It is a scheme introduced by the Kerala Government for the Non-Residents Keralites to utilize their deposits for infrastructure development in the state. According to this scheme, NRI’s are able to avail of this pension scheme until the death of the investor.

The scheme was launched by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The government will accept deposits in the range of 3 to 51 Lakhs. After that, they will hand over the money to the agencies that assigned for the infrastructure development. Currently the KIIFB (Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board is handling the scheme).

The investors can collect a monthly income of 10% of investment amount from the fourth year of deposit. If the depositor has died, the invested amount and the dividend (additional amount) of the three years will handover to the nominee.

This scheme is only available for the Keralate Residents who live in abroad. To join this scheme, the NRI’s should introduce their identity proof such as Identity card, Aadhar card, Ration card, Passport or any other documents and they should attach an income certificate and residential proof while applying for the scheme.

The Kerala Migration survey revealed that the remittance from non-resident Keralites to the state has touched 85000 crore rupees. This pension scheme will help people to give financial support after quitting the job from abroad.
